Our biggest news
story is undoubtedly the visit by the Rt Hon David Cameron MP to tour
our site and to present three new quality awards.

One of the areas of
particular interest was the recently upgraded cleanroom manufacturing
section that produces medical and bio-medical mouldings for such diverse
areas as Anaesthetics, Gynaecology, Surface Cleanliness testing and
Cancer Diagnostics.
M.D. Carl Reeve
remarked “Mr Cameron was very interested in our processes and asked many
questions about our customers, business plans and staff. “He clearly has
an impressive grasp of the issues affecting manufacturing industry”.

Reeve, Chairman, and Carl Reeve, Managing Director .
“It was super to also
welcome Mr Peter Davis, the Director General of the British Plastics
Federation of which Data Plastics are members” said Carl. “Peter Davis
took the opportunity to discuss the inclusion of the Federation in a
manufacturing summit to be held later in the year recently announced by
David Cameron who is concerned by the steady decline of British
manufacturing”
At the conclusion of
their visits David Cameron and Peter Davis were presented with a small
souvenir of their visit, a “Tangle Teezer”, hairbrush, designed tooled
and made by Data Plastics but famously derided by Dragons Den but is
subsequently proving to be a runaway success both in the UK and
Internationally.
As proud members of the British Plastics Federation we have access to a huge database relating to topics such as:
DESIGN, MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS, PROCESSING, APPLICATIONS. Indeed all of the questions that designers, buyers and specifiers may need to answer when deciding if a product can be made in plastic
Amongst the questions that we have recently answered include:
"Can you safely add scent or flavouring to food-grade plastic components?" (The answer is yes)
"Is it possible to mould plastic components that can conduct an electrical current."? (The answer was again yes)
We have knowledge of materials that change colour depending on temperature, materials that are bio-degradable,
anti-bacterial, 100% recycled materials, a virtual plastic substitute for Aluminium and plastics that dissolve in water- just to mention some of the "exotics"
We offer you free access to both our manufacturing intelligence and to the experience of our design, tooling and manufacturing staff. So if you need help and advice it is freely available here at Data Plastics. The chances are we can save you time and money by pointing out the pitfalls and suggesting cost effective solutions. Its our job!
